About the Department
The Aquatics Supervisor creates lifelong memories and a healthier community for all to enjoy in Chaska with an emphasis on providing exceptional aquatics programming for all ages. A key function of this role is to develop and manage a variety of aquatics programs that meet the needs and interests of the community.
The typical schedule for this role will be 10am-6pm and may include daytime, evenings, and weekends due to hours of operation and programming/events.
Position Duties
Customer Service
- Delivers exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues efficiently, communicating information and ensuring a positive experience that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Communicate effectively with staff and patrons regarding program and facility logistics to ensure a positive experience for all.
- Evaluates services and procedures and recommends changes that can increase efficiency and enhance the overall experience for both staff and customers.
- Utilizes department software to build programs, process payments and refunds and generate reports.
- Designs and implements aquatics programming for patrons of all ages, including classes and special events at the CCC pool and Clayhole Beach while partnering with the Parks and Recreation Team.
- Conducts needs assessments or surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, aquatics programs, events, or services as well as tracking performance and attendance data to help determine success.
- Creates marketing materials for all aquatics offerings and activities and ensures distribution to appropriate audiences including social media.
- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and supervises a significant number of aquatics staff including aquatics coordinator, lifeguards, water safety instructors and aides, beach lifeguards and first aid instructors to provide excellent customer service and follow departmental procedures.
- Coordinates ongoing training and development opportunities to improve team performance and service delivery.
- Conducts performance reviews, set goals, and provides constructive feedback to staff.
- Provides input and monitoring of the Aquatics budgets.
- Purchases supplies and equipment and processes expenditures in accordance with the City’s accounting procedures.
- Partners with Facility Maintenance staff and Public Works Department to oversee aquatics facility ensuring safe and well maintained facilities and equipment.
- Works closely with the Parks and Recreation team to ensure an integrated experience for customers visiting the Chaska Community Center by promoting programs, events, and services offered.
- Contributes ideas and collaborates with staff across the Parks and Recreation department to create a positive and energetic work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or a related field with 3 years of related experience and 2 years of supervisory experience OR
- Associate’s degree with 5 years of related experience and 2 years of supervisory experience
- Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
- 2 years of experience as a Lifeguard
- 2 years of experience as a Swim Instructor
- Lifeguard Certification preferred
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred
- Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, point-of-sale systems, registration software, internet navigation, or other relevant technologies.
