Regional Operations Manager
Student Transportation of America, doing business as Diversified Transportation, is actively seeking a dedicated Regional Operations Manager to join our team in Elko and Winnemucca, Nevada. This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing daily transportation project needs, ensuring seamless coordination and operational efficiency while leading dedicated staff in each respective location.
This role will be primarily based in Winnemucca, NV. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates residing outside the specified region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the execution of employee transportation operations, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, safety, and regulatory standards
- Lead and support internal teams including dispatch, safety, and operations staff to ensure consistent and efficient execution
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with external vendors, contractors, and clients to maintain strong partnerships and operational alignment
- Monitor performance metrics, budgets, and project progress; implementing timely adjustments as required to meet targets
- Ensure accurate and organized project documentation, reports, contracts, and records are always maintained
- Conduct project risk assessments and implement proactive mitigation strategies
- Provide leadership, mentorship and KPI based performance guidance to operations teams
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all operations
- Participate in budget planning, forecasting, and resource allocation to support overall regional success
- Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates, manage expectations, and resolve challenges
- Review, interpret, and manage high value contracts to ensure effective execution and accountability
- Build and manage expectations across frontline staff, clients, and senior leadership within the organization
- Conduct internal operational audits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operational account management, people leadership, and high level contract execution
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT compliance, and industry safety standards
- Minimum 5 years of experience within the mining and/or construction sector
- Solid understanding of MSHA regulations and reporting requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple operations simultaneously while maintaining timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to work across teams and with external partners
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA, or graduate certificate in a related discipline (e.g. Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Strategic Leadership)
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen and a continuous improvement mindset
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) with a clean 7-10 year driving record
- Willingness to travel as required to support regional operations.
