Position Title:   Part-Time Lecturer

Compensation:   $1500 per credit (PhD), $1333 per credit (Masters)

Location:   Saint Martin’s University, Lacey Campus

 

The Civil Engineering Department at Saint Martin’s University invites applications for those interested in teaching general engineering courses as part of our vacancy pool.  Specifically, we are seeking qualified individuals interested in teaching courses such as Graphics and Computer Aided Drafting, Mechanics of Materials, Mechanics of Materials Lab, Statics, and/or Dynamics.  In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year, applications are continuously accepted in the civil engineering department.   Rate for compensation is $1500 per credit (for candidates with a PhD) or $1333 per credit (for candidates with a Masters).  

 

The Civil Engineering department’s mission is to prepare students for a challenging and fulfilling professional career, while building community within the student body and amongst the faculty and staff.  The small class sizes enable active mentorship as students progress through the program.  Lecturers are encouraged to focus on creating opportunities for students to apply their knowledge, engage in hands-on experiences, and actively engage and network with practitioners.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to:

 

  • Candidates must have commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.  
  • Engage with the department in curriculum development.
  • Engage in departmental assessment of student outcomes.
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding their coursework and progress in the course(s).  

 

Qualifications/Requirement:

  • A Masters in Engineering
  • A bachelor’s of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and mentoring students
  • Eligibility to work in the United States from the start date of the appointment
  • Support the Saint Martin’s Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts tradition

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in teaching undergraduate level courses in water-related infrastructure 
  • Professional engineering licensure
