Responsibilities
2. Coordinates, writes, and assists with the development and implementation of curriculum. Works with individual teachers to assist with instructional improvements. Coordinates and assists with professional development training, and provides demonstrations for teachers in the use of applicable instructional strategies.
3. Function: Coaches teachers in the implementation of effective classroom instructional strategies based on current scientific-based research. Provides professional development for staff, collectively and individually, ensuring incorporation of best practices and technology integrations. Assesses all instructional staff, collectively and individually, to assist in determining professional development goals for the district and individual campuses. Collaborates with subject area teams to address identified instructional and curricular needs. Remains abreast of technical, legislative, professional trends and developments, and disseminates the information to campus and district staff. Develops, implements, and monitors a Mentor Teacher Plan/Program. Facilitates the coordination of the district subject area team meetings to include, but not limited to, scheduling of meeting dates, locations, times, and agenda.
4. Function: Plans and provides curriculum format, appropriate training, and curriculum assistance for campus administrators, subject area team leaders, and campus instructional leadership. Provides campus teams with curriculum support and identifies specific strategies to support Campus Improvement Plans. Assists in the examination, evaluation, and selection of appropriate instructional materials including textbooks, manipulatives, and technology.
5. Function: Develops, writes, coordinates, and assists with the implementation of assigned curriculum programs. Develops, implements, monitors, reviews, and coordinates TEKS-based curricula for all grades, including textbook adoptions, in alignment with resources and assessments. Remains abreast of current literature in the field of education, specific content areas, and training and development. Visits school sites to ensure the written curriculum is the taught curriculum.
7. Function: Collects and analyzes data to adjust and refine programs and services and plans focused staff development. Coordinates the collection of performance data from a variety of sources, analyzes data, and prepares reports for campus and district leadership. Prepares and maintains a variety of additional reports, records, and files (AESIT database, textbook inventories, and ICAT).
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or related field. Three (3) years of professional work related experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must possess a Texas Teachers Certificate. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:
· Standard office environment within a secured facility. Must be able to visit various off-site locations.
· An employee may be transferred to another department, shift, location, or facility based on the needs of the Department.
· Working in a 24-hour facility may make the employee subject to working mandatory overtime or remaining on duty and working all, or a part of, an additional shift (“double shift”).
· The incumbent is / may be considered to be ‘essential personnel’ subject to being held over or called back to a work location or alternate site at all times. When required, you will be notified by your supervisor.
· Must be at least 21 years of age (for applicable positions) and must pass all portions (physical/written) of the Juvenile Academy to continue employment or all standards related to PREA and Ethics for specific positions.
