This role is fully hands-on. You will personally execute core accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, prepaids, accruals, payroll imports, and support month-end billing and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Currently, this role operates independently with full ownership of the accounting and reporting function. It is positioned as a department leader, with oversight of core finance areas including AP, AR, GL, inventory, and reporting. The right candidate brings the mindset and capability to lead people.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Ownership
- Lead full-cycle month-end close, accurate, timely, and audit-ready
- Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and payroll allocations
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and supporting schedules
- Import payroll data into the general ledger and compare against accruals
- Reverse accruals (e.g., payroll, bonuses) and validate accuracy against actuals
- Own the general ledger and chart of accounts across multiple entities
- Prepare, review, and deliver consolidated monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for the company
- Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and audit-ready each month
- Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain internal controls and documentation
- Perform and improve bank reconciliations across multiple entities
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation entries, and supporting documentation
- Support month-end billing and ensure accuracy of financial data
FP&A Support
- Analyze financial results, consolidate budgets, and provide variance analysis to leadership
- Consolidate regional budgets and maintain corporate assumptions (e.g., labor increases, inflation factors)
- Provide financial insights to operations and leadership
Process Improvement & Systems
- Stabilize legacy systems and manual workflows; build structure and documentation
- Automate and streamline reporting
- Create repeatable processes and SOPs for month-end, budgeting, and reporting
- Troubleshoot accounting and reporting issues across the department
- Collaborate with regional accountants to improve processes and resolve discrepancies
- Support month-end billing and ensure accuracy of financial data across units
Leadership & Culture
- Demonstrate proactive ownership, identify issues before they escalate
- Foster a culture of accountability, clarity, and continuous improvement
- Set expectations and lead by example
- Serve as a liaison between finance and regional teams to ensure alignment and support
Compliance & Year-End
- Lead audit preparation and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
- Coordinate audit readiness, manage PBC lists, and ensure timely responses to auditor requests
- Prepare and file 1099s, manage state filings, and ensure entity compliance
- Maintain documentation and support year-end close
