About the Department

Under the direction of the Community Services Supervisor, the Transportation Specialist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operational logistics, monitoring reports, and ensuring program quality across the Golden Wheels team.

Under the direction of the Community Services Supervisor, the Transportation Specialist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operational logistics, monitoring reports, and ensuring program quality across the Golden Wheels team.  This position works a maximum of 950 hours per fiscal year.

Position Duties

The typical duties of this position include:

  • Supervising and training of part-time transportation staff, including Transportation Specialist (Drivers) and Senior Transportation Specialist (Dispatch); 
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies; 
  • Preparing required materials and supplies for scheduled programming; 
  • Preparing publications, including a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding the transportation program; 
  • Completing the necessary paperwork and facility checks/tasks for the daily administration of the transportation program; 
  • Reviewing trip logs, incident reports, and ridership data;
  • Overseeing vehicle maintenance tracking and coordinating repairs;
  • Responding to challenging situations in an appropriate, effective, and efficient manner, including escalated staff or rider concerns to ensure service resolution; 
  • Enforcing all program regulations and policies; 
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly vehicle and office; 
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance tasks; 
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and appearance; 
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with staff and patrons; 
  • Providing excellent customer service to the general public; 
  • Effectively communicating both verbally and in writing; 
  • Serve as a liaison between frontline staff and the Community Services Supervisor; and
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in public transportation, dispatch, or team leadership.
  • Must possess a Class C Driver’s License.
  • Possess or must obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 6 months of employment (arrangements to be made by City).
  • Must possess a strong understanding of customer service, scheduling, and fleet operations. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and data tracking systems. 
  • Must have excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, use repetitive motions, and may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to readily adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple simultaneous demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff in an outdoor climate, including warm/cold temperatures, wind, and precipitation.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
