The position of plant engineer is a professional position that is responsible for the safe, proper and efficient operation and maintenance of all plant equipment at the Imperial Valley geothermal production facilities. The position is responsible for maintaining plant efficiencies, engineering and procurement of efficiency monitoring equipment. Works with the maintenance department to recommend preventative maintenance on plant equipment. The plant engineer maintains a close relationship with the engineering department.

Responsibilities

Adhere to, and support all safety and environmental rules, policies and procedures. Monitors plant efficiencies and makes recommendations to site manager if plant processes require adjustments. Develops conceptual designs along with the manager, process engineering and site manager for plant improvement projects. Works closely with the training department and project engineers to develop proper operational procedures for plant equipment.  Responds to operating needs. Provides lead role for plant and equipment performance evaluation; optimizing resource use and maximize reliable power generation and revenue from the region. Provides services to operations and maintenance as required. Maintains close contact with these groups to evaluate plant equipment performance, recommend design/specification improvements, trend project performance, keep up-to-date with the technology incorporated in the field. Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university. Minimum three years of experience, preferably in an industrial environment. Knowledge of power plant engineering, business/financial and contractual matters is helpful, but not required. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
