To strengthen our team in the area of Packaging Technology based in Trier/Germany, we are looking for a Packaging Technology Manager (m/f/d) to develop our future packaging systems across the Combustible and Reduce Risk Products categories in permanent employment.

Based on close collaboration with Global Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales at HQ and Local Market Level, and R&D Business Partner Office you will manage cross-functional projects, deliver technical feasibility studies and develop specifications for new pack formats. Your tasks:
- Manage and coordinate packaging system development projects, including new formats and associated material innovations, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
- Act as the central contact for Global Innovation & Initiatives, HQ Business Groups, and local M&S teams regarding packaging system and material development activities.
- Conduct technical feasibility studies and proactively propose alternative packaging solutions aligned with business and sustainability goals.
- Develop and maintain specifications and dimensional drawings in collaboration with internal and external partners, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Organize and manage test materials and quotations for new or modified pack formats, supporting smooth project implementation.
- Support the sustainability strategy by developing tools and methodologies to evaluate packaging systems using Recyclability & Life Cycle Assessment tools.
- Drive process and productivity improvements through the development of new testing methodologies and regular review of internal procedures.
- Contribute to innovation by conducting patent reviews, identifying new suppliers and technologies, and supporting potential patent applications.
Your profile:
- Relevant educational background: in Packaging Engineering/Packaging Technology or comparable
- Practical experience: Minimum 5 years of project management experience in the FMCG industry, preferably with exposure to packaging development and PPWR requirements
- Valuable knowledge: Excellent knowledge of packaging materials, packing processes, and printing/converting technologies. Experience in both the manufacturing (“make”) and packaging (“pack”) phases of product development is advantageous
- Language skills: Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Special strengths: profound project management skills, proficiency in MS Office and SAP
- Suitable personality: highly organized and structured working style, strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Practiced working time model: flextime, possibility of 50% mobile office work within Germany on a monthly basis
