Your impact 

 

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, in the position of Lead, Materials Management and Logistics you will be responsible for the development, implementation, continuous improvement and execution of Newmont Australia’s inventory control, specialised procurement, logistics and transportation strategies across the region.

 

In this role you will play a key part in ensuring Newmont Australia’s Supply Chain operates efficiently and safely including maintaining the right stock levels, supporting timely sourcing of goods and services and delivering effective logistics and freight management to meet regional operational needs.

 

As part of our team you will also  

 

  • Lead the regional inventory planning function, ensuring stock levels are optimised to support operational requirements
  • Drive the standardisation and continuous improvement of materials management processes and systems across the region
  • Communicate the inventory management vision and build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Manage and execute regional procurement strategies with a focus on specialised categories, warranty and repair management
  • Ensure sourcing of goods and services is timely, cost-effective and compliant with Newmont policies
  • Support supplier diversity, reliability and long-term value creation through effective supplier engagement
  • Act as Regional Freight Contract Owner and lead and oversee the operational and commercial aspects of freight and logistics services
  • Manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and service delivery expectations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all logistics and transport operations through regular safety audits and engagement
  • Partner with regional Inventory Control, Asset Management and site Supply teams to ensure materials are received, issued, stored and transported safely, accurately and efficiently
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance cost efficiency, service quality and operational safety
  • Ensure all materials management and logistics activities align with Newmont’s standards, procedures, and regulatory obligations

 

Prerequisites for your success in the role 

 

  • Degree qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related with Postgraduate degree preferred
  • Certification as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and/or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) preferred
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for tracking, planning, and optimising materials and logistics
  • Significant experience in inventory management, procurement and logistics within mining, resources or heavy industry sectors
  • Strong leadership capability and proven success in driving process improvement and operational performance
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to engage across multi-disciplinary teams and site leadership
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in supplier relationship and contract management
  • A commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in all aspects of work

 

Your work environment 

 

This permanent position will suit applicants currently living in Perth, Western Australia. Residents of another Australian capital city will be considered if the ideal candidate.  Full eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.  

 

This role will be offered on a flexible hybrid/work from home basis.  It is anticipated you will be a seasoned professional accustomed to working from home while utilising the Newmont Perth capital city hub in Subiaco when required to be effective in your role.
