We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Drainage Maintenance Officer to join our team in Coolaroo, Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the drainage systems throughout the area, ensuring their optimal performance and compliance with local regulations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct drainage inspections to establish the nature of a drainage problem.
- Arrange cleaning, CCT inspection etc as required to enable resolution of issues.
- Provide feedback to residents and service authorities where drainage maintenance requests relate to private property or another agency.
- Collate details of works required to resolve a drainage issue, confirm details and measurement on sites and determine priority. Issue instruction/documentation to panel contractors for action.
- Supervise contractors to ensure that damaged pit lids are made safe and repaired in accordance with the timeframes as set out in Councils Road Management Plan.
- Ensure contractors working in the Hume City Council comply with Council standards, policies, and legislative requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities, system conditions, and recommended improvements
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate drainage projects and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry best practices
- Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for drainage systems.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Ability to identify customer/client needs and expectations, decide appropriate action and respond accordingly.
- The incumbent is required to make sound technical decisions selected from a range of alternatives based on experience, to ensure that any problems are remedied promptly and in the best interests of Council.
- Knowledge and application of road and drainage construction and maintenance works standards.
- Understanding of Road Management Act 2004
- Working knowledge of clerical / administrative procedures and standards.
- Construction and maintenance work experience in drainage maintenance and construction. construction.
- Ability to gain cooperation from and communicate both verbally and in written form to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to deal with difficult customer/client situations and present a positive Council image.
- Ability to prepare routine correspondence and reports.
- Understanding of local environmental regulations and water management practices
- Familiarity with Coolaroo's drainage infrastructure and local climate conditions
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on efficiency and organization
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Post-secondary qualifications in municipal maintenance or relevant experience in a Local Government environment or similar.
- Drivers Licence HR
