Our team is focused on ensuring the sustainability of ArcelorMittal Mining and steel. We are supporting our mines in their tailings management projects, creating the knowledge and R&D solutions to reduce the impact of our tailings storage facilities. The team is located in Asturias and works in an international environment creating the new best available technologies in mining and steel.
Main responsabilities
We are looking to strengthen the team with a technically skilled professional who will support ArcelorMittal units in the operational deployment of tailings management solutions and lead applied R&D projects. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to:
- Keep continuous technological watch of tailings solutions, to be able to make critical analysis of the best techno-economical solutions for the different tailings management scenarios in our mines.
- Provide assistance to operational units during the deployment and execution of tailings management strategies and act as a reference for operational best practices in tailings handling and valorization.
- Define the lab-scale, semi-industrial and industrial tests needed to validate the applicability of the technologies to each tailings scenario.
- Establish and guarantee the communication with the mine responsibles during all process, following R&D guidelines and supporting the process of selection of the best solution.
- Lead or contribute to applied research projects focused on tailings drying, reuse, and process optimization.
Requirements
- Masters Degree in Mining / Environmental / Chemical / Industrial Engineer
- Experience in mine tailings management operations, development and application of slurry management technologies in industrial processes ( dewatering, thickening, pumping, disposal) and Lab testwork, engineering and upscaling of pilot solutions.
- Knowledge on rheology and basic chemical treatments in dewatering
- Able to challenge current technologies / propose new ideas to research on disruptive environmental solutions.
- Mining Scientific / Suppliers Networking
- Softskills: Initiative, Adaptability, Results Oriented, Team Work, Technological Curiosity.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory and good level or willingness to learn Spanish is desired
