About Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA): Founded in 1970, Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger and providing nutrition education, which partners with organizations throughout Ohio to provide nutritious meals to children. CHA partners with in-home childcare providers, childcare centers, afterschool, and summer programs to provide balanced, nutritious meals to children in their care. Additionally, they work with schools to increase breakfast participation and provide weekend meals to students. CHA also has ambitious plans to increase age-appropriate nutrition education across the state.

The Nutrition Educator is responsible for developing and implementing engaging programs to promote healthy eating habits in children across diverse communities. The purpose of this position is to use nutrition science and educational techniques to empower children and their families to make informed, dietary choices that support lifelong health and wellness.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, deliver, and evaluate culturally sensitive nutrition education programs to children.
  2. Coordinate and schedule nutrition programming to accommodate requests from community partners such as libraries, recreation centers, schools, and daycare centers.
  3. Teach nutrition education using curricula based on current dietary guidelines and scientific research.
  4. Facilitate cooking demonstrations, gardening, and other hands-on learning activities.
  5. Stay current on nutrition trends, research, and best practices; attend professional development trainings.
  6. Track attendance, update monthly trackers, and upkeep site paperwork.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


Job Qualifications:

  1. Two years of college education and/or Associate's degree; higher education with physical fitness/education, recreation sports, nutrition, health promotion, education or related field preferred
  2. Ability to travel to community program locations in Cincinnati/ Hamilton County
  3. Familiarity with child nutrition, public health, teaching, academic intervention strategies
  4. Experience teaching/leading groups of preschool and school aged children
  5. Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
  6. Communication skills—especially oral and presentation skills
  7. Organizational and time management skills
  8. Flexibility, creative problem-solving skills & a positive attitude
  9. Ability to perform field-based work independently
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

 

Job Working Condition:

Various program locations within Cincinnati/ Hamilton Co.

Frequent travel; reliable transportation required.

Occasional travel to Columbus.

Lifting of materials and supplies (up to 25 lbs.)
