CFF is seeking a Prevention Engagement Specialist for their drug and alcohol Prevention Education Program (PEP) in Delaware County, PA. This role integrates leadership, family-focused programming, youth services, outreach, and community engagement. The work schedule may vary and includes in-person services, occasional virtual services, and a hybrid structure with one in-office workday per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology, Human Development, or Family Studies fields.
  • One or more years of experience working as a Prevention Specialist or in providing prevention education, health education, or a similar related service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology, Human Development, or Family Studies fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the outreach and marketing of caregiver, family-focused and LGBTQ+, and other prevention programming to schools and community organizations, such as churches, community centers, and nonprofits.
  • Complete and submit all necessary documentation related to outreach and marketing.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary documentation related to programming, including but not limited to schedules, attendance sheets and pre- and post-survey data.
  • Create new relationships with and secure host sites to deliver caregiver, family and LGBTQ+ focused, and other programming.
  • Connect with and secure participants for caregiver, family focused, and LGBTQ+, and other programming.
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing, preparation for, and implementation of caregiver, family-focused, and LGBTQ+, and other programming.
  • Deliver evidenced-based, caregiver- and family-focused prevention programs including but not limited to the resources groups LifeSkills Training Parents and Strong African American Families (SAAF) to participants in school, community, justice, and office-based settings.
  • Deliver evidenced-based, youth-focused prevention programs including but not limited to LifeSkills Training (LST) (Elementary, Middle, High, and Transitions), The Blues Program, Too Good for Drugs (TGFD), Unity Circle, Girls Circle, and The Council for Boys and Young Men to participants in school, community, justice, and office-based settings.
  • Deliver evidence-based intervention programs including but not limited to Teen Intervene to at-risk youth in school, community, justice, and office-based settings.
  • Develop materials for effective program delivery through Canva and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Actively participate in health and resource fairs, coalition meetings, and other events in the community with the goals of marketing programs, disseminating information about prevention, and contributing to the reduction or elimination of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs use among young people.
  • Meet productivity goals to reach identified deliverables set by the Delaware County Department of Human Services, Division of Drug and Alcohol.
  • Maintain communication and collaboration with PEP team members and leadership.
  • Use and implement the 5 core values of Trauma-Informed Care in all work practices - Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, and Empowerment.
  • Deliver evidenced-based, LGBTQ+, caregiver, family-focused prevention programs, and other prevention programs including but not limited to the resources groups LifeSkills Training (LST) Parents and Strong African American Families (SAAF) to participants in school, community, justice, and office-based settings.
  • Assist the PEP Supervisor in screening, interviewing, hiring, and orienting new staff.
  • Identify and track progress towards gaining required and supplemental trainings for prevention staff in accordance with requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP). 
  • Measure, problem-solve, and address gaps in required progress towards program goals in accordance with requirements outlined in the contract with Delaware County Department of Human Services, Drug and Alcohol Division.
  • Work collaboratively on maintaining the PEP Schedule, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assess the need for and delegate tasks to PEP team members.
  • Take lead in the absence of or at the request of the Program Supervisor and/or Lead Prevention Specialist.

Work Environment

  • Work in standard office environments as well as community settings to include schools, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, faith-based establishments, community centers, indoor and outdoor community resource fairs, and buildings maintained by other child and family-serving organizations.
  • Availability to facilitate programming for families or other related events up to two weekday evenings per week, not including Friday evenings.
  • Availability to attend prevention education programming, health fairs or other marketing/outreach events on up to 15 weekend days as needed throughout the year.
  • Substantial local travel in personal vehicle or other reliable transportation to offsite locations as required by caseload or training requirements. It may be expected that three to four workdays will require travel.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly starting range of $20-$20.50
  • Ability to earn an additional $4,000 per year through quarterly bonus structure tied to program deliverables
