Smokehouse Team Lead 

 

 

Pay Range: $30.13/hr - $35.56/hr + $1.50 Shift Premium

Hours: 1:00pm – 9:30pm, Monday-Friday (Overtime as production demands)

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Consistently manufacture “great tasting” sausage products according to specifications.
  • Coach Oven Operators to obtain World Class results in safety, yields, and overall business costs.
  • Lead daily tailgate team meetings by offering ideas and suggestions, supporting team members, and participating in team projects 
  • Using innovative thinking, set goals and objectives; both personal and as a Team Member to acquire great performance to support the Johnsonville Way
  • Gain a deep understanding of the cooked/smoked side of the business
  •  Primary focus of this “on-line” team leader will be on the floor working & coaching the 2nd shift Smoking members.
  • In addition, this leader will also need to become competent using the Best Mix formulator and the Foss fat analyzer and can back up Riverside’s Formulation / Tech position on a as needed bases. 
  • Responsible for the performance, productivity, and efficient utilization of resources.
  • Create an environment that ensures Member involvement and implementation of Operator Drive Reliability (ODR), new ideas, and guidelines that ensure fairness to all Members.
  • Ensure appropriate Coaches & Members are aware of problems, issues, and events that could affect safety, food safety/quality, cost, customer service, Member development and BPTW.
  • Ensure a safe, helpful, team atmosphere, which promotes continuous improvement among team Members.
  • Work together with other RS Members & Leaders to obtain World Class results in safety, yields, usages, and efficiencies.  Ensure that meat inventory and usage is maintained to the highest standards
  • When backing up Riverside’s Formulation / Tech position ensure trim inventory for day’s production is accurate and work closely with the schedule team to make appropriate adjustments.
  • Must be able to proficiently learn how to use SAP / Best Mix Software System(s).

 

 

Experience:

  • Manufacturing experience in a Food Industry preferred.
  • Previous experience in leading a project, team, or team Meeting
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to function in a team-based environment.
  • Work experiences that demonstrate Johnsonville’s Core Values, i.e., Integrity, Continuous Learning, Teamwork, Continuous Improvement, and Innovation
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance (safety, USDA).

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of all Form Tech Skill Blocks and Smoking Team Leader Skill Blocks within an eighteen-month period
  • Strong math and written/verbal communication skills required
  • Must be able to complete production documentation paperwork accurately. Attention to detail is a must.
  • Must be able to navigate through computer screens and enter data into a computer program.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be able to identify CCP’s in the oven area and maintain all GMPs
  • Must be able to help keep the smoking area within TQC compliance
  • Must be able to push/pull racks of sausage that could weigh up to 1200 pounds
  • Must be able to grind and analyze samples and monitor/adjust fat percentages
  • Ability to complete daily inventory on raw and pre-blended meat.
  • Must have the desire to learn, grow and take on increasing responsibility in Operator Driven Reliability (ODR)
  • Based on business necessity, must be proficient in English.
