Job Description
Position Purpose
The Certified Peer Support Coordinator (CPSC) will provide support to Certified and uncertified Peer Specialists (CPS/PS) across multiple programs. The CPSC is an integral part of the Divisional Team, which will coordinate recruitment, training, and wellness support resources for Certified and uncertified Peer Specialists and will provide services to participants. This position will not directly supervise staff but will coordinate with program management and divisional leadership to provide additional training, coaching, and support to CPS staff members, volunteers, and interns to ensure that they are functioning as effectively as possible and maintaining their own recovery. A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.
Major Responsibilities
Staff Development
This position is expected to conduct a monthly wellness meeting with each Certified Peer Specialist employed within their assigned area of support.
The Certified Peer Support Coordinator will facilitate monthly support groups, offer recruitment and retention support, obtain resources for wellness, and provide individual and group coaching for CPS.
Provide mentoring and shadowing in the field for individual training and support for CPS staff, and provide a successful model of wellness and recovery for consumers to emulate.
Coordinate and provide training classes and workshops for CPS staff members (Recovery orientation, engagement and outreach, time management and scheduling, wellness, boundaries, organizational skills, and computer and database, etc.)
Responsible for making sure the CPS staff are up to date with their CEU Credits
Community Involvement and Program Development
The CPSC will travel throughout the community and have a strong working knowledge of all available community resources across their designated area.
The CPSC will collaborate with the RHD Business Development Team and the Director to establish and maintain professional working relationships with community leaders to identify and connect with additional community resources as they become available.
Direct Client Care
Supporting person-centered interventions as identified in service plans for everyone served
As appropriate, may facilitate group therapy sessions such as:
WRAP
Recovery Support Groups
Community Meetings
Symptom and Coping Skills
Complete all other assigned tasks as designated by the Director.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or higher preferred.
Must hold a current certification as a Peer Specialist in the state(s) which they support.
At least 2 years’ prior experience working with individuals with serious mental health and/or drug and alcohol challenges.
A valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout the geographic area for which they are responsible.
Certified Peer Specialist Certification
HS Diploma/GED
At least 2 years working with others in Mental Health Recovery
Maintain 18 credit hours of additional training each year
