Responsibilities:As a member of the Central Assessment Team, the Associate AID Inpatient Therapist, housed within the Brooklyn Park hospital, collaborates with the Central Intake Team, psychiatry providers and nursing staff to integrate relevant clinical data and substantiate medical necessity for recommended level of mental health care. This role is responsible for conducting mental health clinical interviews, completing safety risk and diagnostic assessments and integrating relevant gathered clinical data as part of the multidisciplinary admissions process. This role may also render provisional mental health diagnoses and inform a patient’s ongoing mental health treatment plan. This role requires a high degree of case conceptualization, consultation and collaboration with internal and external interdisciplinary resources in service of coordinating admissions to the inpatient hospital.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Conducts diagnostic interviews and assessments, face to face, telephonically, or via telehealth, with clinical oversight of a licensed supervisor
- Provides crisis risk assessment and safety planning
- Provides effective and positive patient care experience pursuant to the policies of PrairieCare
- Is oriented and educated in trauma informed, culturally responsive care (including gender, cultural differences, and age factors) for the assigned department
- May provide other clinical coverage for therapists throughout the PrairieCare system, AID team, and perform other clinical duties within scope, as needed.
- Requires a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related therapeutic field. Licensed or currently pursuing licensure in state of Minnesota and receiving clinical supervision toward such
- Two years of experience in behavioral healthcare is preferred
- One year crisis management skills in hospital, clinic, or managed care setting preferred
- Must have knowledge of DSM-5 criteria
- Foundational skills in interviewing and safety/diagnostic assessment
- Display a professional, patient-centered attitude in all aspects of performance
- Skills to conceptualize clinical presentations and communicate clearly and effectively with Clinical Directors and professionals both internally and within other organizations
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office Products including Word and Outlook
- Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks
- Skills to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations. Ability to actively model self-regulation when within stressful situations
- Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances
- After training, be able to de-escalate disruptive and explosive patients
Pay range for this position is $26 to $34 depending on education and experience.
