Practice Nurse

We’re looking for a passionate Practice Nurse to join our team at Penrose Health, where we’re redefining what primary care can be. This isn’t just another GP practice role — it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in communities that need it most.

As part of our connected nursing network, you’ll deliver safe, evidence-based care across a range of services, from managing long-term conditions and running health promotion clinics to providing cervical screening, immunisations, and wound care. You’ll work closely with GPs, Pharmacists, HCAs, and Nursing Associates in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment that values collaboration and innovation.

At Penrose, we invest in your growth. You’ll have access to structured career pathways, regular CPD, and the chance to rotate across sites to broaden your experience. We offer flexibility, a competitive salary, and a culture that genuinely cares — for patients and for each other.

We are currently looking for Practice Nurses to be primarily based in the locations below:
  • Penrose Surgery, 33 Penrose Street Walworth, Southwark, London SE17 3DW
  • Kingfisher Surgery, Staunton Street Lewisham, London SE8 5DA

Check out the full Job Description for this role and don't forget to have a look at our Main Site before applying.

We are unfortunately unable to sponsor applicants for this role, so you will need to have right to work in the UK in order to apply for this role.

This isn’t your typical GP practice role.

At Penrose Health, we’re a clinician-led organisation with a bold mission: to deliver accessible, compassionate and proactive primary care to every patient we serve.
We’re looking for a Practice Nurse who shares that vision — someone who thrives in a supportive, team-based environment where innovation and professional growth are part of everyday life.

Our matrix model means you’ll be part of a close-knit local team and a wider community of nurses, clinicians and leaders across all our sites — giving you a broader support network, more collaboration, and real opportunities to grow.

You’ll be doing things like:

  • Managing long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and COPD through routine reviews and proactive care
  • Running chronic disease clinics and making referrals to specialist or secondary care when needed
  • Providing cervical cytology and processing results
  • Administering childhood immunisations, travel vaccines, flu jabs, and other adult vaccinations
  • Offering contraceptive advice and sexual health support
  • Supporting Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and local enhanced services
  • Promoting health education, preventative care, and patient self-management
  • Requesting pathology services and interpreting results
  • Delivering evidence-based nursing care aligned with NICE and NSF guidelines
  • Collaborating with GPs, HCAs, Nursing Associates, and Pharmacists to provide joined-up care
  • Maintaining high standards of infection control and clinical documentation
  • Supporting and mentoring HCAs and phlebotomists
  • Contributing to service development and continuous improvement across the practice

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • You’re a Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
  • You have experience in a GP or primary care setting and enjoy working in community-focused environments
  • You’re confident managing chronic conditions and running nurse-led clinics
  • You’re passionate about patient-centred care and making a real social impact
  • You enjoy collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including GPs, Pharmacists, HCAs, and Nursing Associates
  • You’re proactive, adaptable, and open to continuous learning and improvement
  • You value flexibility and want a role that supports work-life balance
  • You’re keen to contribute to service development and innovation in primary care
  • You communicate effectively and thrive in a supportive, team-based culture
  • You’re motivated by working in areas with health inequalities and want to help drive change
