JOB SUMMARY
The Lead for the Receiving department oversees daily operations, ensuring the receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming materials and supplies are performed accurately and promptly. The Lead, Receiving works in coordination with the Buyer as well as the Quality and Production departments to facilitate the efficient and safe flow of materials into inventory and production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Coordinate daily receiving operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices.
• Lead the receiving team in unloading, inspecting, documenting, and labeling incoming materials and products.
• Perform initial quality inspections on incoming goods for damage, defects, and discrepancies.
• Collaborate with the team on how to process return-of-goods if delivered as short, with bad quality, broken pallet, or other non-conformance/discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of received goods in the ERP/MRP system.
• Ensure all materials are properly identified, tagged, and routed to appropriate storage or production areas.
• Schedule and assign tasks to receiving personnel, ensuring efficient use of labor and equipment.
• Train and coach receiving team members on proper procedures, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the receiving dock and staging areas.
• Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and inventory reconciliation.
• Collaborate with purchasing and production planning teams to prioritize urgent or time-sensitive deliveries and material picks.
• Schedule inbound and outbound Less than Truck Load (LTL) and Full Truck Load (FTL) shipments.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed.
• Track and report KPIs related to receiving performance, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Process returned sales order by coordinating with the Materials Group and the Customer Service departments.
• Performs other duties or responsibilities assigned over the course of employment.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a receiving or warehouse environment, preferably in manufacturing.
• 2+ years of leadership experience in a warehouse or logistics setting.
• Strong knowledge of receiving processes, inventory control, and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Epicor knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to read, speak and understand English text, instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
• Always comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Certified in operating a forklift or able to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
• Ability to bend, twist, turn, reach, and lift to 50 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required based on business needs. Starting times typically range between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, totaling an 8-hour workday.
• Maintain 1) reliable and safe transportation to other Delphon facilities or for business travel, 2) valid State-issued driver’s license, 3) proper vehicle registration, and 4) State-required minimum automobile insurance coverage requirement.
