Patient Services Rep- Birth Certificate Clerk presso Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital

Job Summary

The Patient Services Rep functions as the Birth Certificate Clerk and is responsible for timely processing and completion of birth certificates and required documents related to birth; ensuring documents are completed with the highest level of accuracy, privacy, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Licensure and Certification:

•  Current BLS provider card

Education:

• Minimum High School graduate or GED equivalent

Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of medical office or health information records experience
• Experience in Birth Registration completion preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

• Understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations
• Typing, proper use of language, writing, and telephone skills
• The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in various modes

Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:

·         Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.

·         Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.

·         Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.

·         Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.

·         Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

·         Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
