What You'll Do
- Supervise high complexity testing personnel
- Provide direction to staff -optimizing workflow and productivity
- Coordinate schedules to assure maximum efficiency and equal distribution of workload
- Serve as primary contact for high complexity laboratory employees, provide department orientation, coordinate training, and ensure that all necessary procedures and courses have been assigned
- Ensure training is complete and adequate prior to clearing new employees for autonomous work
- Engage, develop, and encourage staff to reach full potential
- Assist/conduct ongoing assessments and annual performance evaluations of testing personnel
- Complete competency assessments on time
- Assists laboratory administration and quality assurance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to policy/procedure review, revisions, and compliance, adherence to safety regulations, and employee file maintenance
- Identify issues. Develop, assist, and/or conduct process improvement activities
- Perform duties of a high complexity medical laboratory scientist/ technician
- Stay current on and adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures
- Properly document all deviations and/or corrective actions taken per laboratory policy
- Demonstrate competency at least annually as outlined by laboratory procedures
- Ensure laboratory compliance with CAP and other regulatory organizations by participating in proficiency testing in accordance with laboratory procedures
- Understand an perform studies to ensure all regulatory requirements are met at predefined intervals
- Assist in preparing for and participating in inspections/audits as needed
- Exercise good documentation practices in accordance with laboratory policies

- Other duties as assigned by management

- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology (or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory with high complexity testing
- Experience in quality management in a high complexity clinical laboratory
- Working knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Regulatory Requirements (i.e. CAP/CLIA/ISO/IVDR)
