Position Summary
This position is responsible for all operations including labor, material, and product output. This position is responsible for lead supervisory duties related to picking, receiving, packing, labeling, and shipment of components and finished gifts. This position ensures the operation runs safely, efficiently, and accurately on a daily basis. During peak season, this position will be responsible for a specific shift consisting of 40–150+ associates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises 2 or more functional area(s) with 1–3 working supervisors and 2+ area coordinators or seasonal leaders on a specific shift
- Reviews workload requirements and staff shifts ensuring adequate coverage and within budget guidelines
- Ensure productivity and cost controls are met or exceeded
- Tracks labor transfer credits and verifies weekly and monthly financial numbers
- Creates a climate providing motivation, participation, and opportunities for employees to do their best
- Prepares staff for future opportunities and takes an active role in the development of future leaders
- Impacts retention by fostering a respectful team environment that supports workplace values through professional communication and timely problem solving
- Responsible for seasonal planning by developing programs and procedures to improve the effectiveness of the department
- Responsible for developing training materials and procedures for the department
- Ensures all department procedures (SOP) are documented and utilized
- Ensures system training and appropriate documentation to ensure systems are utilized and users are systems savvy (SAP)
- Conducts cost analysis for projects and efficiencies
- Partners with peer supervisors to promote cross-departmental cooperation and ensure clear communication
- Responsible for monitoring employee performance and creates and delivers PIAs and PDRs for direct and indirect reports
- Assists in interviewing and assessing leadership candidates as assigned
- Communicates effectively both horizontally and vertically maintaining two-way communications
- Communicates department objectives and goals related to performance, cost, quality, safety, and housekeeping
- Responsible for department and company safety programs, safety audits, and ensuring the safe conduct of all associates within their assigned area
- Ensures team compliance and follow through on all safety programs
- Supervises shift responsibilities for Retail Stores, Direct Marketing, Eastern Manufacturing, CYO, Pantry Essentials, and Wholesale
- Operations and oversees off-shift activities through shift supervisors on second or third shifts as required
- Provides direction to the specialist for setup of strategies for SAP EWM functionality
- Assists in determining storage space requirements and the best utilization of space available
- Coordinates with QA to ensure that all “held” material is inspected and approved or properly tagged and identified as being on hold
- Responsible for the WMS receiving functionality working properly; instructs WMS system specialists when changes are needed
- Participates in continuous improvement projects, department and corporately assigned
- Responsible for maintaining the highest level of quality for our customers
- Responsible for enforcing company policies and providing their employees with a positive employment experience
- Maintain reasonable and reliable attendance
- Other duties/projects as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1–3 years related experience in project management or a buying department
- 3–5 years of distribution, pick and pack, or general warehouse supervisory experience in a similar role or level of responsibility
Physical Demand and Work Effort
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. continuously and 50 lbs. as needed
- Ability to stand and walk up to 60% of the shift
- Ability to work in cold storage (-10° to 40°) as required
- Constant mental and/or visual attention; work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office and retail environment
