Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and technically-minded Knowledge Management Specialist to support the capture, organisation, and dissemination of critical knowledge across multidisciplinary teams working on complex defence programmes. This role plays a vital part in ensuring continuity, innovation, and operational excellence throughout the lifecycle of advanced weapon systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, structure, and maintain key knowledge assets across engineering, systems integration, trials, and programme delivery.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing between engineering, programme management, and customer support teams.
- Develop and manage digital repositories, lessons learned databases, and technical documentation libraries.
- Ensure compliance with defence standards, security protocols, and government regulations in all KM practices.
- Promote and embed KM tools and platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, PLM systems) across the organisation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by enabling access to historical data, design rationale, and technical insights.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to encourage adoption of KM practices and tools.
- Align KM activities with strategic programme goals, supporting sovereign capability development and multinational collaboration.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in knowledge management, systems engineering, or technical documentation within a defence or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of secure information handling and classified data protocols.
- Familiarity with engineering lifecycle processes and systems integration.
- Experience with digital collaboration and KM platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, PLM).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work across disciplines and manage competing priorities.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Information Management, or related discipline.
- Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or SysML frameworks.
- Prior exposure to MOD programmes or multinational defence collaboration.
