JOB SCOPE:
The Property Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly reporting including journal entries, account reconciliations, preparation of financial statements of assigned real estate entities and debt compliance reports required for lenders and actively participate in financial and business projects..

JOB SUMMARY:
The Property Accountant will be responsible for the monthly accounting activities including recording journal entries and preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements for assigned real estate entities.

Accounting Manager, RE

Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly financial reporting including variance analysis (actuals to budget, month-over-month)
  • Prepares bank reconciliations by comparing the bank statement with the balance in the general ledger, to ensure alignment and identifies and corrects any discrepancies
  • Performs cash flow analysis to identify areas of financial weakness and presents findings to management
  • Analyzes transactions and prepares journal entries to record property acquisitions and dispositions
  • Responsible for month-end close, prepares monthly journal entries, accruals, allocations and account reconciliations
  • Prepares and analyzes quarterly and annual financial statements and debt covenants
  • Provides regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
  • Records monthly debt activity, prepares debt account reconciliations and creates lender compliance reporting. Corresponds with lenders and resolves any concerns
  • Collaborates with accounting team and other departments, as well as participates in business projects as assigned and makes recommendations for continuous process improvements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  •  Bachelors Degree
  •  3-4 years of related experience
  •  18 years of age or older
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  •  Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in general accounting, real estate accounting experience a plus
  •  Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; superior attention to details and proactively resolve issues
  •  Ability to leverage technology, systems, and automation to scale
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Aptitude to collaborate across teams, cross functionally to complete projects
  •  Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  •  Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment
  •  Microsoft Office 365 and Yardi experience required
