Responsible for ensuring accuracy and validity of accounting transactions, in a timely manner, in support of the Brokerage and FTZ Department. The position will require someone that is detail oriented and self sufficient to ensure constant review/audit of pending AP and AR transaction and follow up as necessary. Extended support during month end will be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable:
• Perform checking and validation of payment requests and ensures accurate recording and approval in exp.o accounting system
• Checks and validates cost provisions and any (under) and over provisions are resolved timely or have notes with consistent follow up
• Perform appropriate escalation for any unresolved concerns affecting accounts payable specially related to closing out month end
• Ensure timely payment of Customs bills including duties, additional payments or fines & penalties
Accounts Receivable/Collections:
• Perform routine checks of the draft payables and ensure timely billings and approval in exp.o accounting system
• Ensure all files billed contain the necessary backup at the time of billing
• Maintain customer accounting contacts, along with escalation contacts
• Consistently follow up and provide proactive updates to accounting on pending invoices/payments
General Accounting:
• Ensure current quotes are on file and within SOP and matching rate shells are in place
• Ensure all new customers have quotes on file prior to the processing of the initial shipment.
• Be involved and suggest system/process improvements.
• Set the tone of this environment within your department
