Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Breakfast Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at our busy restaurant. The Breakfast Chef will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality breakfast dishes efficiently, ensuring consistency, speed, and excellent presentation standards. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure during peak service periods.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
• Prepare, cook, and present all breakfast menu items to a high standard and in a timely manner.
• Maintain portion control, presentation, and quality according to restaurant standards.
• Prepare mise en place for breakfast and assist with lunch preparation as needed.
• Cook a variety of breakfast items including eggs, pancakes, pastries, hot breakfast plates, and other morning specials.
• Ensure all orders are prepared accurately and served promptly.
Kitchen Operations & Hygiene
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
• Adhere to food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards (HACCP / local regulations).
• Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of all ingredients to minimise waste.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance or safety issues immediately.
• Comply with all restaurant and health & safety policies.
Teamwork & Communication
• Work closely with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams to
ensure smooth service.
• Communicate effectively during service and assist other sections
when required.
• Train and support junior kitchen staff and breakfast assistants where
necessary.
Stock & Ordering
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering to ensure sufficient supplies for breakfast service.
• Help with receiving and checking deliveries, ensuring quality and freshness of ingredients.
• Manage wastage and help implement cost-control measures.
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Breakfast Chef, Line Cook, or similar role in a busy restaurant, café, or hotel.
Strong knowledge of breakfast and brunch dishes.
Excellent knife skills and attention to presentation.
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced
environment.
Good time management, organisation, and multitasking skills.
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher preferred).
Flexibility to work early mornings and weekends
Working Hours
Typical hours: Early morning shifts, e.g., 7AM – 3PM (depending on business needs).
