Job Description/Essential Duties:
Reporting to the Purchasing and Planning Manager, the Buyer/Planner will support our purchasing department with the selection and procurement of products. This position is responsible for demand planning/forecast, supply planning, vendor relationship management, and inventory management.
The duties of this key role in the purchasing department will focus on:
- Forecasting/Demand Planning: Own and manage the SKU level forecast to improve the forecast accuracy.
- Supply Planning: Release purchase orders to drive the right supply to support the business need. Manage the ETA of POs in the ERP system.
- Inventory management: Continue to improve the inventory turn without a risk to supply.
- Supplier relationship management: Manage the supplier performance and negotiations to obtain the best cost value from the suppliers.
- New Product Launch: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, and Operations), to ensure the new product launch achieves the targeted timeline. Manage the product transition to avoid the inventory exposure.
- Reporting: Create reports to enhance the efficiency of the workflow.
- Performing additional assignments per supervisor's direction, not limited to the list above.

Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The position requires contact both within the department and between departments on routine matters.

The position requires the use of judgment to plan and execute decisions to solve a problem or select a course of action for a standard or recognized method of operation.
Supervision Received:
Under general supervision of the Purchasing and Planning Manager, assignments are both task-oriented and objective-oriented. You will follow established procedures for routine work and receive specific instruction on non-routine problems.
Education and Experience:
- The desired minimum educational requirement to successfully perform this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or another related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in a demand planning/forecasting or supply chain management related field within a design and manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills (i.e., pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, formulas, data analysis, etc.).
- Understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with negotiations and supplier management
- APICS CPM certification is preferred.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing and standing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
