Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cybersecurity Engineer with 10–15 years of progressive experience in IT Security, specifically focused on modern cloud environments.

This critical role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our security architecture, ensuring robust protection across our digital footprint. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, reporting directly to the VP of Technology, and driving our cybersecurity maturity across all platforms, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and modern identity solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Security Strategy: Drive and execute the organization's cybersecurity strategy and roadmap in alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Cloud Security Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain security controls and policies within our cloud infrastructure, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM): Oversee and manage robust IAM solutions, primarily utilizing Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and its related features.
  • Endpoint Security: Architect and manage device security, compliance, and configuration using tools like Microsoft Intune.
  • Security Operations: Proactively monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents, ensuring timely investigation and remediation.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all security initiatives adhere to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate, implement, and manage third-party security tools and services.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff on security best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 10 to 15 years of dedicated professional experience in Information Technology Security or a related field.
  • Cloud Expertise: Proven, in-depth experience securing and managing resources within Microsoft Azure.
  • Identity & Access Management: Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including conditional access, PIM, and MFA.
  • Endpoint Management: Strong expertise in deploying, configuring, and managing security policies via Microsoft Intune. Advanced experienced working with Microsoft Defender.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex security risks to both technical and executive audiences.

Highly Desired Skills & Experience (The "What Will Set You Apart")

  • Network Security: Experience in supporting and maintaining next-generation security solutions like Zscaler (ZIA, ZPA).
  • Data Governance: Practical experience implementing data loss prevention (DLP) and compliance controls using Microsoft Purview.
  • Automation/Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating security tasks, reporting, and configuration management.
  • Email Security: Hands-on experience with advanced email security platforms, such as Mimecast, for threat protection and archiving.
  • AI in Cybersecurity: Utilizing the most effective AI tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.

  • Security Awareness: Experience developing, deploying, and managing effective employee security awareness training programs using platforms like KnowBe4 or Wombat Security.
  • Risk Management: Demonstrated ability to perform risk assessments and translate technical vulnerabilities into business risk.
