The Opportunity

The Medical Director, Hematology will lead the strategic direction and execution of medical and scientific initiatives supporting Abbott’s Hematology portfolio. This role is responsible for driving innovation, clinical research, and external engagement to ensure alignment with business objectives and global healthcare needs. The Director will serve as a key medical expert and strategic partner across cross-functional teams including R&D, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access.

What You’ll Work On

  • Lead the development and execution of the medical strategy for Hematology systems, ensuring alignment with global business goals.
  • Oversee clinical research initiatives, including investigator-sponsored studies, collaborative research, and evidence generation.
  • Serve as the primary medical liaison for internal stakeholders and external partners, including the medical community, policymakers, key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide medical input into product development, lifecycle management, and regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Commercial teams to align research projects with business strategy.
  • Support commercial teams with scientific content, training, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Represent Abbott at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and industry forums.
  • Ensure compliance with global medical governance and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • A valid medical license and Board certification in Hematology or Hematopathology.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience as a Hematologist, Hematopathologist or related specialty.
  • Hands-on experience with hematology analyzer or strong familiarity with their use in lab settings
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for working with internal teams, investigators, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to present complex medical information clearly to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

$168,000.00 – $336,000.00
