Position Summary

The Operations & Facilities Management Department (OFMD) at WashU Medicine provides essential services that sustain the medical campus’ mission of excellence in patient care, research, and education. OFMD manages the maintenance and operation of more than 65 buildings, encompassing over 14.8 million gross square feet, including the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot Neuroscience Research Building (NRB), home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of neuroscientists. Position provides recognized procedures and techniques to safely perform duties repairing and servicing of equipment. The mechanic will primarily work on generators, cooling towers, pumps, and chillers. The mechanic will assist others on larger projects and will perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs and maintains mechanical equipment in accordance with operating manuals and manufacturer's specifications.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on chillers including punching the chiller tubes and basic chiller repairs.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on cooling towers including cleaning of the cooling tower basins.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on generators including oil changes, refueling generators, battery changes, and monthly generator testing.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on air compressors, lab air, and university vehicles.

  • Documents the testing required by governmental agencies, preventive maintenance on equipment, and deficiencies.

  • Develops and maintains building information pertaining maintained equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Other: Vehicle lift gate, heavy hoses, pumps, moving heavy 55gallon barrels

  • Operating and repairing generators

Salary Range

$25.47 - $39.49 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
