Measures of Success
- Timely and compliant completion of site surveys, installations, and commissioning activities
- Effective resolution of technical faults, warranty claims, and client enquiries
- Delivery of system performance improvements and compliance with Heat Network Regulations
- Successful development of subcontractors, and operational processes
- Full adherence to health, safety, and audit standards with accurate documentation
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site surveys for HIUs, metering, billing, energy efficiency, and compliance assessments
- Install and commission metering systems (AMR, data loggers, gateways, routers, M-Bus networks)
- Carry out technical fault finding, diagnostics, and system optimisation
- Support contractors with HIU installation and commissioning, ensuring compliance with standards
- Manage warranty claims and provide technical resolution, liaising with manufacturers and clients
- Create clear technical reports, O&M documentation, commissioning records, and compliance evidence
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014 (as amended), CIBSE CP1 Heat Networks Code of Practice, and ESOS requirements
- Prepare and maintain risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and ensure site safety compliance
- Adhere to CDM Regulations and company H&S policies
Stakeholder Management
- Act as technical lead for clients, housing associations, developers, and managing agents
- Handle technical enquiries from consumers, supporting strong client relationships
- Manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring delivery standards and compliance
Operational Support
- Oversee warehouse stock, procurement of materials, and internal stock systems
- Assist with annual internal and external audits
- Provide technical training and mentoring to new team members
- Support business development with technical input where required
Skills, knowledge & expertise
- Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, building services, or related technical field (preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a technical role within heat networks, metering, or energy systems
- Strong knowledge of HIUs, heat networks, metering and billing systems, and M-Bus networks Experience with system performance monitoring, optimisation, and commissioning
- Familiarity with Heat Network Regulations, CIBSE CP1, ESOS, and relevant compliance standards
- Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving, and report-writing skills
- Strong project management and team leadership experience
- Full UK driving licence
