We are seeking a Financial Counselor (Business Office Liaison) to assist patients and families in understanding their financial responsibilities and arranging payments for behavioral health services. This position serves as a vital bridge between patients, the Business Office, and our clinical teams, helping ensure a positive and transparent experience for every individual in our care.
What You’ll Do
Serve as the main point of contact for patients and families regarding billing, insurance, and payment arrangements.
Review and explain costs, coverage, and payment requirements in a clear, compassionate way.
Coordinate with the Business Office and Assessment & Referral teams to verify insurance and patient financial responsibility.
Identify and collect copays, deductibles, and coinsurance at admission or discharge.
Maintain accurate financial documentation and patient records in the HCS system.
Perform daily census reconciliation and ensure all charges are captured accurately.
Collaborate with the Central Business Office to resolve claim issues, denials, or missing information.
Support patients in completing promissory notes, refunds, and payment arrangements as needed.
What You Bring
High school diploma or GED required (college coursework preferred)
3–5 years of experience in a hospital or behavioral health setting preferred
Background in financial counseling, medical billing, or collections
Excellent customer service, negotiation, and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of HIPAA, Medicare, and medical terminology
A compassionate, professional approach when working with patients and families during sensitive situations
