Job Summary

Assists school administrators in maintaining an orderly and safe campus. Monitor and supervise the behavior of students who are outside of class and at school-sponsored activities. Promotes positive relationships with and among students and staff. Intervenes in situations likely to result in disruption or injury and directs students to refrain from such conduct. Patrols roads, buildings, parking lots, locker rooms and restrooms, and grounds to provide protection against vandalism, burglary, arson, trespassing and theft. Monitors visitors' activities and keeps unauthorized persons off campus. Maintains records of student contacts, including referrals. Maintains a close working relationship with the staff of the Kings County Probation Department and Lemoore Police Department who is assigned to District schools. Assists administration in conducting searches as necessary, including the use of metal detectors and specially trained dogs. Maintains crowd controls and enforces safety regulations when assigned to special school activities such as athletic events, dances, plays and open house. Enforces parking regulations on District property. May perform general clerical assignments such as referrals, incident reports, accident reports, may testify at Board Expulsion Hearings, attendance, inventory; may supervise in-house suspension room, and assumes additional responsibilities, tasks, and duties as may be determined by the supervisor or his/her designee

CAMPUS ASSISTANT (SUPERVISOR) JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Site or District Administrators, the Campus Assistant is to help supervise and maintain a safe learning environment at LUHSD school sites. PRIMARY DUTIES: Assists school administrators in maintaining an orderly and safe campus. Monitor and supervise the behavior of students who are outside of class and at school-sponsored activities. Promotes positive relationships with and among students and staff. Intervenes in situations likely to result in disruption or injury and directs students to refrain from such conduct. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Works under the direction of the Site or District Administrators DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Should possess personal characteristics generally recognized as essential for good public employees, including integrity, initiative, dependability, courtesy, good judgement, ability to work cooperatively with others. Represents and supports the District in conversation with the public Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and required safety training certification necessary to conduct the job. Experience: At least one-year experience working with high school aged students desirable. Current CPR and First Aide Certification necessary to maintain the position. Knowledge: Understanding of the interests, attitudes, and emotional development of adolescents; understands the skills necessary to maintain positive relationships with students and adults; possesses interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; knows the health, safety and school rules, understands the policies and rules regarding campus control; knowledgeable about crowd control procedures and detection and identification of dangerous drugs and improper substances; and understands safe campus supervision methods and procedures. General computer skills necessary to access the student records system and to keyboard reports. Ability: To establish and maintain a professional working relationship with public, school staff and students; patrol and monitor the campus to maintain order and safety, enforce campus rules and regulations, assure student compliance with the school and District rules, regulations, policies and procedures, perform duties with patience, tact and good judgement, maintains a cooperative working relationship with others, observes situations and accurately determines an effective course of action, performs evening and weekend supervision, as needed, understands and carries out oral and written directions. Able to stand for extended periods of time and walk long distances in order to supervise campus, climb stairs and ramps and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
