Description
FireTron Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our growing team. This role involves producing fire protection drawings and hydraulic calculations for commercial new construction projects, including storage, healthcare, high-rise, mercantile, and educational facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in fire protection system design, possess NICET certification and/or a Texas RME-G license, and be proficient with design software such as AutoSPRINK and Navisworks. A strong understanding of NFPA standards and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design fire protection systems using architectural dimensions and structural backgrounds.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for various fire sprinkler systems.
- Identify and resolve coordination issues, communicating concerns effectively.
- Create fabrication stock listings and review all design drawings prior to fabrication.
- Coordinate drawing schedules with project managers to meet permit and fabrication deadlines.
- Conduct and document site surveys and jobsite visits as needed.
- Collaborate with field foremen and update designs based on field feedback.
- Attend project and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review submittals for design quality, code compliance, and equipment compatibility.
- Assist and train entry-level designers while promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure that designs comply with applicable NFPA and FM Global standards.
- Use AutoSPRINK, AutoCAD, and BIM tools like Navisworks for design and coordination.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection system design.
- NICET Certification and/or Texas RME-G license.
- BIM experience (Navisworks required).
- Proficiency with AutoSPRINK preferred.
- Familiarity with NFPA 13, 14, 20, 22 (2016 and newer editions) and FM Global standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and other third-party design software.
- Strong math and computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Adobe.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
