SUMMARY
The Assistant Restaurant Manager ("El/la Asistente de Gerente de Restaurante") supports the daily operations of The Grill’s front-of-house, working closely with the Restaurant Manager to lead the service team, uphold established standards, and deliver an exceptional dining experience. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth execution of service, assisting in staff training and development, and reinforcing the resort’s commitment to Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond service. The role also provides consistent leadership presence to support daily operations and team performance.

- Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000 DOE**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations with a focus on guest service, cleanliness, and team performance.
- Ensure alignment with hotel policies and brand expectations.
- Assist in meeting operational goals, including labor efficiency, quality assurance, and guest satisfaction metrics.
- Liaises with other operating departments to guarantee quality of services rendered
- Maintains a house bank and conforms to established cash-handling procedures.
- Recruit, train, and mentor front-of-house team members.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions and assist in performance reviews.
- Foster a positive, respectful work environment with high standards for service delivery.
- Maintain a hands-on presence during service to guide execution and guest interactions.
- Ensure prompt and effective resolution of guest concerns or service recovery needs.
- Champion a culture of hospitality and personalized service.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 - 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Prior experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant environment preferred.
- A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
- Experience running a shift, scheduling, performance management, problem-solving, running day-to-day operations, hospitality & customer service skills
- Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required
- Experience with POS systems (MICROS, Aloha, or similar), OpenTable, and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire. Evans Hotels will provide this training and is to be completed at the company’s expense.
- RBS Certification required.
- Ability to exemplify and always lead with a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 40 lbs.
- The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
