Work Location

This position will report onsite to the Corporate Headquarters location in Springfield, Oregon and is possibly eligible for a hybrid onsite and remote work arrangement for those who meet the program requirements.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: The full salary range for the Loan Underwriter position is $25.35 to $36.75 per hour.
  • Annual Incentive: In addition, all SELCO team members receive an annual incentive based on how well SELCO meets the prior year’s strategic business goals. This incentive is calculated using the team member’s prior year eligible earnings and ranges from 0%-12% (with the average payout over the last five years being 11.07%).

Position Overview

Review and evaluate loan applications and supporting documentation to determine whether to approve, deny, or counteroffer, using strong analytical skills, sound underwriting practices, and a thorough understanding of SELCO policies and guidelines.

SELCO Core Essential Functions

Position-specific Essential Functions

  1. Apply sound underwriting judgment within established SELCO policies, guidelines, and authority limits to review and decision a high volume of loan applications across multiple channels (branch, online, phone, retail).
  2. Read and analyze documents such as credit reports, tax documents, etc. 
  3. Clearly document loan decisions, observations, and recommendations.
  4. Communicate with internal team and dealership personnel to provide guidance and feedback on loan application procedures, required documentation, and credit decisions.
  5. Support process enhancements to improve service delivery and operational efficiency. 
  6. Strengthen member relationships by identifying needs and prequalifying them for additional SELCO products.
  7. Maintain and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of banking and general state and federal laws related to financial privacy, fair lending, collections, bankruptcy, workout, and foreclosure.
  8. Maintain and demonstrate strong knowledge of loan product-specific requirements.

  14. Ability to perform and complete tasks despite background noise and interruptions.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; and
  2. At least three (3) years of consumer lending experience; and
  3. Consumer loan underwriting experience is preferred, but not required; and
  4. Must be bondable.

Physical Demands

While performing the job duties, approximately 95% of the time is spent stationary, with the remaining time spent moving around work areas. Frequent communication occurs in person, over the phone, and in writing. This position requires the ability to view a computer screen and interpret printed materials and other documents. This position requires the ability to lift and transport up to 5 pounds, and there is an occasional need to stoop, kneel, or reach to access documents, equipment, and supplies.

Interaction and Work Environment

Reports to: Centralized Lending Leadership
Work areas are inside a climate-controlled environment with background noise.
