Role Summary:

 

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shop, production, and refurbishment operations for mobile surveillance trailers. This role ensures that all builds, refurbishments, and maintenance activities are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The manager will lead build technicians, manage inventory and purchasing, plan for new capital equipment, and optimize multiple production environments to support the company’s growth and operational excellence.

 

Role Priorities:

  • Shop & Production Oversight: Supervise day-to-day operations of the shop and production areas, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality across all workstreams.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and develop build technicians and support staff; set clear performance goals and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control for parts, materials, and equipment; implement systems to minimize waste, track usage, and ensure just-in-time availability of critical components.
  • Refurbishment Program Management: Lead and coordinate refurbishment and reconditioning of existing mobile surveillance trailers, ensuring units meet or exceed operational and customer standards.
  • Production Planning: Develop and maintain build schedules across multiple production environments; ensure on-time delivery and efficient resource allocation for all projects.
  • Capital Asset Planning: Evaluate, plan, and recommend new capital equipment purchases to support capacity expansion, productivity improvements, and quality enhancements.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and workflow efficiencies across fabrication, assembly, and refurbishment operations.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control: Manage operational budgets for the shop, including labor, materials, and equipment costs; maintain cost targets and identify savings opportunities.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with engineering, operations, and field teams to ensure build standards, technical documentation, and service readiness are aligned.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, maintain compliance with OSHA and company standards, and promote a culture of workplace safety.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure quality materials, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery schedules.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality control checkpoints and documentation for all production and refurbishment processes.
  • Training & Development: Create onboarding and upskilling programs for production staff to improve technical competencies and career growth.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, or production management (preferably in trailer, equipment, or technology assembly industries).
  • Knowledge of solar, battery, or remote monitoring systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or electrical schematics
  • Proven leadership in managing technical teams and production staff.
  • Strong understanding of inventory systems, purchasing, and logistics.
  • Experience planning and managing capital assets and production capacity.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP or inventory management software, and MS Office/Excel.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or solar trailer systems is a plus.
