Job Description

POSITION: Med Ed Assistant RESPONSIBLE

TO: The Director of Responsive Education FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt EMPLOYMENT

TERM: Temporary, part-time position. As needed - Extracurricular assignment/contract

SALARY: Stipend

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Director of Responsive Education in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and JCBOE Evaluation Policy.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide support for participating students, families and educators in the JCS Med Ed Program. The assignment will involve scheduling, logistics, advertising, communication with various stakeholders, and assisting in overall program needs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in scheduling times for Med Ed Year 1 and Year 2 class times and medical facility rotations.

 

  1. Actively participate in Education Alliance monthly subcommittee meetings as part of the data and curriculum subcomittees.
  2. Participate reviewing and providing feedback on Med Ed recruitment and marketing strategies.
  3. Participate in relationship and partnership building opportunities with Blue Ridge CTC health sciences instructors and staff.
  4. Assist in communication with schools in scheduling recruitment events, field trips, changes in schedules involving the Med Ed Program.
  5. Assist in developing criteria for application and interview prospective Med Ed student candidates.
  6. Assist in arranging transportation to both classroom space and various medical facilities for rotations.
  7. Assist in coordinating between JCS and WVU Medicine with schedules, logistics, and future planning.

Currently employed by Jefferson County Schools and presently holds a WV professional teacher certification. Ability to travel locally and regionally to in-person job fairs. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

Experienced educators or expert teachers who have the ability and desire to assist with employment activities that are designed to attract and retain high-quality and qualified teachers.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the

essential functions. Most commonly, the work setting is indoors with outdoor settings for travel activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20- 60 dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as Expo facilities where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).
