About Us
Zingerman’s Mail Order is the online and catalog shop for Zingerman’s. We ship great food and gifts all across America, everything from bread and cheese to cured ham and tinned fish.
The holidays at Zingerman's Mail Order are exciting, fast-paced and a lot of fun. We grow from a crew of 100 to a team of nearly 500. People come to work here from all walks of life. Moms, dads, students, retirees, landscapers, artists. Some people are in between jobs. For some folks, this is their first job. Some join us for the season, while others may wish to seek long-term opportunities. Every reason for joining is welcomed. Many of our current team members began their journey with us as part of our holiday crew!

What kinds of things do you do in this job?
Our building cleaners play a vital role in keeping our warehouse and office spaces clean, safe, and looking their best for the entire team.
Bring your attention to detail and positive attitude - this is meaningful work that keeps our space clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. You’ll be responsible for daily and periodic cleaning of non-food contact areas throughout the building, including but not limited to:
- Sweeping and mopping floors
- Cleaning and restocking employee restrooms
- Taking out garbage and recycling each shift (including outdoor dumpsters)
- Cleaning office spaces, including emptying wastebaskets, vacuuming, and recycling
- Vacuuming rugs and carpeted areas
- Operating floor-cleaning equipment
- Sanitizing high-touch areas like door handles and water fountains
- Shoveling snow and salting sidewalks and all exterior areas
What is the pay and what are the shift times?
Day Shift: 9AM-7PM - $16.50 per hour
Night Shift: 8PM-6AM - $17.50 per hour (begins November 30th)
Where is this job?
Zingerman’s Mail Order warehouse is located at 610 Phoenix Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. We are on the AATA bus route.
What does it take to get hired on our cleaning team?
We’re looking for folks who bring care, consistency, and pride to their work. While we value many qualities in potential team members (we’ve listed those below!), there are three must-haves for this role:
- You must have prior experience cleaning in a commercial setting
- You must meet our availability requirements. Full-time availability is preferred, but we will consider part-time applicants who can commit to working at least 3 shifts per week
Day Shift: 9AM-7PM - $16.50 per hour
Night Shift: 8PM-6AM - $17.50 per hour (begins November 30th)
3. This is a physically active role. You’ll need to be comfortable bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and being on your feet for the full shift.

When does this job begin and end?
Work starts in November and ends on or around December 23rd, 2025. Night shift will begin on November 30th.
Are there any other perks?
Absolutely. All training is paid, and all breaks are paid, too. If you're scheduled for a longer shift that includes a lunch or dinner break, we’ll serve up a free, homemade meal (and yes, it’s delicious).

Yes! We encourage it. Almost all of us who work here started as seasonal holiday crew. We usually have a limited number of positions at Mail Order and elsewhere in the Zingerman's Community of Businesses after the job ends.
What's the hiring process like?
It’s quick. We don't have a typical interview for our holiday crew. We’ll ask you to come in to complete some paperwork. That’s it. When you’re done you’ll leave knowing when to return for your first paid shift. You can choose a date. We can get you working within one week, usually sooner. We aim to get you working and paid as soon as possible.
Requirements
What kind of skills are required for this job?
To hit the ground running, you should have the following:
- Commercial or business cleaning experience
- Fluency in reading and speaking English
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Comfort working on your feet for your shifts in a warehouse environment, including bending and lifting up to 25 lbs
- You enjoy staying organized and working through tasks with focus and efficiency
