Job Summary: The Director of Memory Care and Assisted Living provides overall leadership and operational management for the Assisted Living (AL) and Memory Care (MC) neighborhoods within a vibrant Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). This individual ensures that residents receive exceptional, person-centered services that promote dignity, wellness, and engagement. The Director partners closely with clinical teams, residents, families, and interdisciplinary leaders to maintain quality
outcomes, regulatory compliance, and a culture of compassion and excellence.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for residents and families in AL and MC.
· Facilitate resident and family care plan meetings, addressing questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
· Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify and communicate significant changes in resident status and ensure timely response and documentation.
· Promote innovative programs and engagement opportunities that enhance quality of life, especially for residents living with dementia.
· Support and monitor the implementation of individualized service plans to ensure residents’ needs are met.
· Partner with clinical leaders to ensure effective medication management, infection control practices, and incident follow-up.
· Maintain accurate documentation and audit records for compliance and quality assurance.
· Coordinate care transitions with other levels of care and community partners.
· Partner with the Scheduler to manage staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage, cost control, and consistency of care.
· Participate in leadership, safety, and QAPI committees to promote continuous improvement.
· Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for AL and MC team members.
· Build strong relationships with residents, families, and responsible parties to foster trust and satisfaction.
· Actively support communication regarding resident needs, service changes, and community initiatives.
· Lead or participate in family orientation sessions and engagement events.
Approve training protocol and require signatures for completion to hold staff to a higher standard of care.
· Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all Plymouth Place policies and procedures.
· Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
· Attends in-service and education programs.

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, social services, gerontology, psychology, or a related field (preferred).
· Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, or long-term care.
· Dementia care certification (i.e., CDP) required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
· Social service background is desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Experience in memory care and assisted living recommended.
· Understanding of Point Click Care or similar systems.
· Strong knowledge of IDPH regulations for AL and MC
· Demonstrated strength in hospitality and customer service, with a focus on creating exceptional resident and family experience.
· Foundational clinical knowledge preferred to support collaboration with nursing and care teams.
· Skilled in dementia related care and programming.
· Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and manage change.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform job duties and interact with residents, families, and employees.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical activities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position also often requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to perform activities with close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen and reading print material. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment.
OSHA Exposure Category: Category I – Position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues; would be required to perform Category I tasks.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolutions to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with employees and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.
