YOUR PURPOSE

Responsible for collecting on accounts while balancing the goodwill of members with the overall business interests of HZCU. Will locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, email, or text. Duties include addressing paid ahead, overdrawn, and overdue accounts, Manages member relationships relating to insurance problems. initiating repossession proceedings, and maintaining accurate records and account details. This position will also process hardship extensions when appropriate. 


YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

 Monitor payments for late and/or delinquency status. Follow up on delinquent, high-balance, and overdue credit balance accounts by phone and/or letter. Ensure professional interface with members.

  • Ability to discover the reason for delinquency and offer appropriate solutions to permanently resolve the reason for delinquency
  • Contact high balance and/or delinquent members by telephone, mail, email and text to determine the reasons for balance or delinquency and assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current. Develop plans and collect on overdue accounts wherever possible
  • Notify co-signers regarding the status of delinquent accounts
  • Manage incoming tickets from the help desk ticketing system
  • Uses Auto Dialer to complete work tasks
  • Update files and system accounts via the credit union’s delinquent loan recovery system
  • Secure credit bureau reports. Skip trace on loan accounts
  • Assist members with delinquent real-estate loans to resolve delinquency
  • Determine when loan collateral should be repossessed
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with HZCU competencies and Information Protection requirements 
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all state and federal collection laws and guidelines
  • Professional and courteous interactions with members

  • Persistence in following standard collection practices
  • Accurately recording collection activity and file information
  • Maintaining a professional and positive attitude towards delinquent borrowers, and the job of collections

The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $22.30-$31.23. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements

EXPERTISE YOU NEED

Education & Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related work experience may substitute for education.


Capabilities

Effectively presents information in one-on-one situations to borrowers, creditors, external credit-granting organizations, and other employees of the credit union.  


ABLE TO

To perform the essential functions of this position an employee must be able to meet the following workplace demands: ability to converse with others, detect sound, identify and detect objects, count, read, write, operate a computer, handle and feel objects, reach with hands/arms and be stationary and/or stand and/or move for long periods of time. Occasionally an employee will lift/pull/push and carry up to 25 to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and be able to maintain balance doing these activities. Position requires sound reasoning, good judgment and ability to apply knowledge toward work activities. The noise level is moderate and typical of a normal office environment.
