Braintree Public Schools is looking for instructional paraeducators to work with Newcomer English Learner students in grades K-4.
Qualifications: High School diploma or higher required.
Reports to: Director of English Learner Education
Performance Responsibilities: Paraeducators who engage in the support of Newcomer English Learner students accessing the curriculum, school activities, and social, emotional, behavioral needs.
- Support English learners by reinforcing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment that encourages engagement, language learning, and positive behavior expectations
- Reinforces and instructs learning with individual and small groups of English learner students under the direction of the classroom teacher and English Learner Education teacher
- Assists staff in implementing social, emotional, and behavioral supports and interventions (i.e.: behavior plans)
- Adapts work of classroom materials under the direction of the classroom teacher and English Learner Education teacher
- Assists in monitoring student progress, observations, and data collection
- Demonstrates dependability, integrity, respect for student differences, and high standards for conduct and learning
- Supports an inclusive, student-focused, and culturally responsive and sustaining learning environment.
- Displays cultural awareness and sensitively to the unique needs of English learner students
- Maintains ethical standards for student and family confidentiality
- Assists staff in maintaining and reinforcing appropriate school behavior
- Facilitates and supports students' use of positive social interactions, coping skills, and self-regulation strategies
- Follows the directions and assigned responsibilities as directed by the ELE teacher and ELE director
- Demonstrates self-motivation and the ability to apply and generalize new skills
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills that promote collaboration and cooperation as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Participates in professional development and training sessions
- Demonstrates consistent and dependable attendance and is punctual to both work and job responsibilities
