OVERVIEW
Cache County is looking for a Meals-On-Wheels Coordinator to join our Senior Center Team!
The Meals-On-Wheels Coordinator is a full-time benefitted position generally working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance on the first day of employment, retirement contributions, bereavement leave, and 14 paid holidays. Full-time employees also receive 18 days of personal leave in the first year of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Meals-On-Wheels Coordinator determines the daily activities of delivery personnel as needed to expedite and assure quality delivery of meals to homebound senior citizens.
Organizes delivery routes and delegates route assignments; monitors employee performance, assures compliance with work standards; makes recommendations related to job advancement and retention.
Recruits new volunteers. Screens and trains volunteer staff relative to various responsibilities, including routes and established routines, practices, policies, and procedures. Answers the calls, texts, and emails of volunteers in a timely, professional manner. This includes handling scheduling issues, questions, and concerns.
Participates in the evaluation and re-evaluation of client program eligibility; conducts client and prospective client interviews to determine unique nutritional needs as prescribed by personal physicians; monitors client lists to maintain up-to-date names, addresses, and other demographic information.
Monitors daily preparation of meals to ensure availability of proper type and quantity; ensures vehicles are properly loaded and prepared for delivery routes.
Assists in the delivery of meals as required; drives a delivery vehicle on pre-scheduled routes to provide the elderly with meal services; reviews daily route sheets to verify the accuracy of the number and type of meals to be delivered; delivers meals and observes the general condition of the client with regard to health and safety; may communicate client concerns to supervisor for referral for related agency sponsored or coordinated services.
Performs record keeping, data entry, file archiving, inbound phone calls, and reporting. Answers questions and resolves concerns of clients and provides general customer service. Completes general reception and administrative duties.
Monitors the maintenance and upkeep of delivery trucks to assure clean and safe operation; may perform basic maintenance of vehicles; assures proper fuel and other fluid levels; maintains tire air pressure and performs other safety checks of vehicles and equipment; cleans vehicle; maintains various travel and delivery records.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in in social work, nursing, public health, geriatrics or related field OR Four (4) years of responsible work experience specifically related to performing duties described above.
