Summary of Job (brief description)
We are seeking a highly experienced Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager to lead our tax compliance, reporting, and planning functions. This role will be responsible for managing quarterly and annual tax provisions under US GAAP and IFRS, overseeing tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions both domestic and international, supporting tax audits and planning initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, Treasury, and external advisors. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in both public accounting and industry, with deep technical knowledge and the ability to manage complex, multi-entity tax operations in a fast-paced biotech environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage quarterly and annual current and deferred tax provisions for group reporting under US GAAP.
- Oversee annual statutory tax disclosures under IFRS for multiple group companies.
- Prepare and review tax provision workings and collaborate with Finance teams.
- Liaise with financial auditors and local advisors to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Lead SOX compliance for the tax process.
- Manage the preparation and filing of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns and international filings, including estimated payments and extensions.
- Work with and manage external service providers to meet corporate tax and withholding tax compliance and payment obligations across jurisdictions.
- Manage the R&D and Orphan Drug Credit tax credit process, including preparing calculations, identifying and collaborating with internal teams, and coordinating with external advisors.
- Partner with the wider Finance team on the statutory account preparation process.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external tax advisors, and local tax authorities.
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and other business units to provide commercially focused and actionable tax guidance.
- Assist with tax projects such as tax system implementation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Finance on tax planning strategies and opportunities.
- Stay current with legislative developments and ensure appropriate responses to changes in tax law.
- Support and manage tax audits and inquiries as they arise.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, compliance and risk trackers, and manage supplier engagement and fee tracking.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MST preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including time at a Big 4 or national public accounting firm and in-house corporate tax experience within a biotech or life sciences company.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax laws, ASC 740, IFRS, and international tax principles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Range: $220,000 - $250,000
