La Jolla Country Day School seeks an enthusiastic, high-energy Varsity Softball Assistant Coach, specializing in pitching and catching, for the Spring 2026 season. This coach will assist with all aspects of the softball program, supporting the head coach in developing a competitive, inclusive, and character-driven team culture. The role includes helping lead practices, instructing student-athletes in game strategies and techniques, and fostering growth both on and off the field.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with all aspects of the varsity softball program, including sub-varsity support.
  • Lead drills and instruction, with an emphasis on pitching and catching techniques.
  • Support the development of practice plans and game strategies.
  • Foster sportsmanship, leadership, and respect among student-athletes.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment during practices and competitions.
  • Help manage equipment, uniforms, and administrative needs.
  • Participate in team events such as Parent Night and award ceremonies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience coaching or playing softball; pitching/catching expertise preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • NFHS Coaching Education certification preferred
  • Must pass a Live Scan background check and provide current TB clearance

Work Environment & Compensation

  • Part-time, seasonal position beginning February 2026
  • Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability required
  • Hourly rate: $35-40, commensurate with experience
