Job Summary:
As an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Supervisor of Internship Program provides expert, quality, and transparent clinical supervision and support to masters-level social work, counseling, and/or psychology interns through consultation, supervision, training, video- and/or audio-recorded clinical material, and documentation review. Provides direct clinical care which may include but is not limited to completing diagnostic assessments, individual, group or family therapy and providing crisis de-escalation/stabilization as needed. Renders services to clients and/or their families in various settings, to include but not limited to outpatient, inpatient, home or community-based environments.
Essential Functions Direct Supervision:
- Provides direct support to masters-level clinical interns through consultation, individual/peer supervision, and training to best meet the needs of the internship team.
- Able and willing to supervise from a developmental lens taking into account previous training, academic coursework in progress, and progression of clinical experiences over time to help build supervisee confidence and competence. In this vein, supervisory responsibilities may also include provision of co-therapy with interns or facilitation of clinical shadowing activities throughout the internship year.
- Monitors and coaches performance of interns, ensuring interns are consistently providing the highest standard of quality care in practice, performance, and documentation. Approves time logs and time off requests of supervisees.
- Conducts routine evaluations of interns, in keeping with program-specific requirements of the academic institutions. Shares both formal and informal feedback with interns routinely, transparently, and with care. Owns their role as a gatekeeper for the mental health field.
- Displays value of teamwork in collaborating with other professionals who may co-supervise interns (e.g., pre-doctoral psychology interns).
- Effectively engages interns and colleagues to work together toward a common goal; maintains professionalism and a positive work environment that encourages resiliency amongst interns, supervisors, and leadership.
- Engages in consistent, transparent and strong leadership through effective communication and change management and develops clinical knowledge of supervisees through building on individual strengths and passion.
- Provides feedback on and informs system improvements as it relates to standards of quality care and training.
- Understands supervisees caseload compositions and caseload dynamics (i.e. LOS, clinical complexity, service delivery intervals) and effectively coaches supervisees on utilizing treatment plan to drive care and monitoring progress and discharge planning and coordinates caseload information with operations.
- Leads effectively by example and by working alongside team to demonstrate performance and work ethic. Is able to communicate team performance by formal report outs and data presentations to inform management of successes and team needs.
- Participates in the intern selection process at various times of the year, including application review and interviewing.
Essential Functions Direct Clinical Care:
- Provides effective diagnostic assessments to include psycho-social history, diagnostic justification and conceptualization of client needs to drive treatment planning and quality of care.
- Completes comprehensive assessments for intake diagnostics, safety and risk management, and treatment planning that is strengths based and culturally inclusive of client preferences.
- Effectively develops and communicates treatment recommendations to clients that are grounded in diagnostic evidence and measured by clinical outcome tools.
- Provides expert, quality, and transparent individual, group and family therapy that is evidence based and outcomes informed. May include treatment of co-occurring (MH and SUD) clients.
- Provides treatment that involves the client as co-owner of their treatment plan and drives care based on and measured by client feedback about quality of care, therapeutic rapport, and status of symptoms.
- Engages at risk clients with strategic safety planning and interventions that deescalate and stabilize them.
- Develops safety plans that balance risk assessment with client strengths, support systems, and supervisor feedback as needed. Completes all crisis-related documentation in clear, comprehensive, and timely fashion.
- Ensures all clinical documentation is completed in a timely manner and meets quality standards, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Demonstrates multicultural awareness and sensitivity to client treatment preferences.
- Utilizes client feedback mechanisms to assess treatment progress, level of motivation, treatment preferences, and recommends lengths of stay/ treatment modalities by balancing these factors in clinically appropriate ways.
- Maintains effective relationship with operations staff to understand caseload, including how to maximize scheduling to increase client engagement including discharging clients after clinically appropriate intervals of care.
The Environment at Diversus Health is fluid. Roles and responsibilities may be altered to accommodate changing business conditions and objectives. Employees may be asked to perform duties that are outside of the specific work that is listed. This position may require you to work standard hours, as well as flexible hours before and after standard hours, and overtime in excess of 40 hours in a work week.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Licensed professional, in good standing, in the State of Colorado in a counseling-related field (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD); LCSW preferred. Must meet 3 years post-degree experience by DORA if licensed as an LPC.
- Masters Degree in a counseling, social work, or related behavioral health field.
- Exhibits exemplary abilities in managing workload, is consistently performing to performance standard and has shown ability to engage clients therapeutically.
- Experience working with identified population.
- Experience using various treatment modalities appropriate for specified population, utilizing strength-based therapeutic approaches.
- Has exhibited skills as a positive role model (i.e., willing to go above and beyond to meet client or clinic needs, willingly accepts challenges, engages in self-care)
- Leadership: fosters team building and rapport within network to ensure collaborative care.
- Quality and Compliance: models commitment to quality and compliance in day to day and leads clinical staff to quality excellence. Understands basic state and federal regulatory requirements regarding compliance and delivery of care.
- Must have sufficient language skills and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing to accurately and professionally implement and document the services provided to clients.
- Possess basic computer skills and type 25+ wpm for the input and output of client information, using electronic health record.
