Position Description
Title: Safety Supervisor
Department: Operations
Location: Atlanta
Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Manager
Status: Non-Exempt Salaried
Schedule: 8-5 Monday to Friday
Position Purpose: Lead employee health and safety initiatives within the plant.
Main responsibilities
• Act as the site leader for employee safety, health, and wellness and ensure site polices and procedures comply with OSHA regulations.
• Lead loss control program implementation and compliance including training, scorecards, audits, and administrative support of program.
• Key member of site safety pillar team tasked with promoting a culture of continuous improvement in terms of employee safety.
• Manages and monitoring programs - environmental, noise, occupational hygiene, sustainability, storm water, SDS, etc.
• Liaise with corporate health and safety teams to ensure effective implementation and support on company safety programs and initiatives.
• Provides first aid for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Maintaining comprehensive records of safety activities, inspections, training, and incidents. Preparing and presenting safety reports to management.
• Investigating accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine the root cause and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Promotes team member wellness programs and provides ongoing support for employee health and wellness concerns.
• Creating, implementing, and updating safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Developing and delivering safety training programs to employees on a variety of safety topics, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Related tasks as requested by manager.
Essential Skills and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• OSHA 10-hour preferred but no required
• Knowledge of current occupational health practices and applicable legislation is desirable.
• Strong organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and uphold confidentiality.
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
