General Description / Primary Purpose
This is work performing grounds maintenance and landscape installation duties including but not restricted to maintenance of turf, landscape, and irrigation; litter control; and set up for special events. Specific duties will be determined by the supervisor.
Job Functions
Mowing
Weed eating
Edging asphalt and cement surfaces
Plant bed maintenance
Equipment/shop maintenance
Landscape construction.
Marginal Functions
Seasonal projects:
- Raking leaves
- Prescribed burning
- Participating in special event set ups and other work
- Assist with campus maintenance emergencies
- Assist with new utilities installation and maintenance of existing utilities
- Managing work orders
This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.
Departmental Requirements
Driver’s License
Possesses the ability to pound metal stakes into the ground with a sledge hammer and lift heavy tent poles into place.
Required Qualifications
Completion of ninth (9th) grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Some positions may require possession of a classified driver’s license appropriate to a type of vehicle operated.
