Job Title: Mechatronics Engineer

The Role:
We are currently seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to enhance our engineering team. In this role, you will focus on the development, tuning, and optimization of advanced control systems that enable our autonomous surface vehicles, WAM-V® and PowerBuoy® to navigate and operate seamlessly in diverse environments. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our marine platforms' controls systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in marine robotics, contributing to our mission while setting new standards in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electromechanical systems for autonomous marine vehicles and buoys, utilizing a variety of power sources, motors, and actuators, amongst other components.
- Continuously develop and refine logic for microcontrollers and microcomputers.
- Design and develop capability to integrate various 3rd party sensors, communications equipment, and other autonomous/remotely operated platforms.
- Coordinate with electrical/hardware, mechanical, and software engineers on interface design, development, and maintenance.
- Engage in electrical, mechanical, and software systems diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Develop and maintain documentation, management, and system tools for testing, validation, and configuration.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing team for transfer of production-ready technology with all associated technical documentation.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in robotics engineering or mechatronics engineering with a preference for backgrounds in marine robotics.
- Proficient in programs: SolidWorks, Ansys, Autodesk Inventor, Arduino IDE
- Proficient in programming languages: C++, Python
- Solid understanding of electrical components, circuit design, wiring, and safety standards related to marine applications.
- Familiarity with CANBUS protocol.
- Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and resolving electromechanical issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Desired:
- Experience with marine or aquatic robotic systems and standards.
- Experience with power management and environmental sealing.
- Hands-on experience with field testing and willingness to engage in sea trials.
- Eligibility for US Government Security clearance.

Salary range is $105,000 - $115,000 per year and includes the following:
