Job Description
Title: EC Compliance and Program Specialist
Reports to: Director of Exceptional Children
Terms of Employment: 12 Months Salary: State Salary Schedule
Qualifications:
- NC Teacher Licensure and have a EC Certification
- 3+ Years Experience as EC Teacher
- previous training or work experiences in the area of data management
- must be fluent in the use of ECATS and knowledgeable of Local, State, Federal policies governing Exceptional Children’s services
- analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- strong communication and interpersonal skills—able to collaborate
Job Goals:
- to lead EC Facilitators in compliance with local, state, and federal policies.
- to manage record keeping, data collection, and reporting activities required by federal, state and local education agencies
- to support staff and administrators in all areas of student services
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead EC Facilitators and manage a system of oversight for EC student record compliance, referral and reevaluation timelines, and certifying an accurate headcount
- Lead and assist with professional development on a variety of topics including compliance, service delivery, discipline, and curriculum
- Participate actively in professional development (assessments, compliance, discipline, curriculum, etc.) opportunities and bring gained knowledge back to the staff
- Assist with preparation for IEP meetings and participate in IEP meetings as the need arises
- Review evaluation, benchmark and other assessment data with teachers, address school and district trends, offer strategies to address these trends, discuss the areas in need of remediation and enrichment, including IEP preparation
- Assist in checking individual student records for compliance with the state and federal regulations
- Assist school staff in efficient record keeping and understanding compliance issues
- Disaggregate data from various data sources for monitoring and reporting upon EC Indicators
- Maintain EC student data on ECATS and NCSIS
- Train teachers in using the ECATS system
- Provide schools and EC Teachers with rosters of students and lists of due dates for reevaluations, IEP’s
- Assist with compiling data for LEA Self-Assessment. Provide updates on data monthly or as requested by EC Administrator
- Create and secure instructional resources for teachers and monitor teacher delivery of specially designed instruction
- Other duties as assigned by the EC Director/Coordinator
