POSITION SUMMARY:
The Hospice of Baton Rouge is seeking a skilled Full-Time Staff Accountant to support its day-to-day financial operations. This person will be responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, maintaining financial record, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to contribute to the success of a mission-driven organization..
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the month-end closing of accounting records in order to provide timely financial statements.
- Prepare and input monthly journal entries and calculate depreciation.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain daily cash collection spreadsheets and monitor cash activity for all entities.
- Independently reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate backup documentation.
- Process accounts payable and maintain vendor invoice records.
- Assist with audit preparation, tax return documentation, and budget variance analysis.
- Independently perform bank statement reconciliations of cash and investment accounts and reconcile other GL accounts.
- Maintain and organize financial records, both electronic and physical.
- Perform special projects and other accounting duties as assigned by the Controller or CEO
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
Work Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of accounting experience.
Special Skills:

Basic knowledge of accounting principles is necessary.

Working knowledge of Great Plains accounting software and Microsoft Word and Excel programs.

Should be familiar with General Ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.
